Dangly Earrings
I’ve been infatuated with earrings since I was a little girl. I guess it’s because my Mom has 3 holes in each ear! Today she only wears diamonds, a small medium and a large, but I don’t think that’s always been the case. A fisherman pierced her ears with a fishing hook! Since hearing that, I’ve pretty much had no fear in the earring department. I used to sterilize a needle and pierce my own ears. At one point I had 13 piercings with all different types of studs. Ladybugs, lizards, feet, sandals, diamond swirls…. I had it all. Today I only wear four on an everyday basis with one dangly one. I’ve gone through all the fads, the feathers, the flowers, the chains. Always being on the hunt for the most unique earrings, I got super excited this past Saturday at Rices Market in New Hope, PA.
While I was browsing this woman’s jewerly stand I found this single earring and asked if I could try it on. I was taken back by how awesome and unique the stone was especially because it was covered in tiny pearls and diamonds. But then I heard the price! “$60 for the earring. Half off here, $120 in the store.”
So I took the earring off and looked a little closer. This is how it’s made. They attached a chain to the back of a butterfly clasp. Which is pretty cool because not only can you use that same clasp on a different earring stud but you have the choice of wearing it in one or both ears.
So I don’t know what is worth $60 here, but I know I can make this for about $3 and achieve the same look! DIY post soon to come!
